It’s been around since ancient times, but Greek wine is finally getting the appreciation it deserves in modern-day New York. We’ve found some excellent bottles to order when dining at high-end Greek restaurants (or ‘estiatorio’) around Manhattan.
Ammos Estiatorio: Dougos Rapsani
This nautical-themed restaurant is appropriately renowned for its seafood selection. Order the Trahana garides saganaki, a mélange of tiger shrimp and roasted tomatoes, and savor every bite while sipping on Dougos Rapsani, a blend of the flavorful Xinomavro grape that comes from the bottom of the hills of Mt. Olympus itself.
