Icon R

The soil of the mountainous slopes in Aigialia facing northly, of medium yields produces very interesting dry wines with a good balance between alcohol and acidity, along with citrus, flower, apple, melon and banana aromas. The variety may produce wines of full body and ages well.
Roditis Alepou of the slopes of Aigialia is well known for its quality characteristics. As the grape of the PDO Patra zone it is grown in Aigialia. Icon R is a single vineyard organic cultivation in the Mamousia plateau at 850m altitude and it portrais the special characteristics of the variety along with the minerality of the terroir.
The reddish clone of Rodites, the “fox Rodites” is the best representative of this variety, and the mountain region of Aigialia is the ideal location for its cultivation. Of pale yellow colour, with a complexity on the nose, with a delicate aroma of citrus and tropical fruit. Full on the palate, with crispy acidity and minerality.

    Achaia

    Slopes of Aigialia

The vineyards, are particular in form and position. It is a charming place to go sightseeing as it consists one of the most plentiful vineyards in Greece. The cultivation of these grapevines is ideal due to the northern and northeastern exposure of the slopes as they are not overexposed to the sun during the summer months, however at the same time they bask in the cool breeze of the Corinthian Gulf. The exceptional climatic conditions as well as the various fertile types of land that have been formed from old geological alluvial soil and the existence of good drainage everywhere due to the incline and the lowest yield from the rest of Achaia, contribute to the production of top quality wines.
