The vineyards of Ascre have garnered renown since the second millennium B.C. The small village of Ascre held great repute in Ancient Greece for its production of high-quality wines sourced from the grapes of Muses Valley.
Nestled on the southeastern slopes of Helicon Mountain (1749m), Muses Valley boasts an ideal microclimate and soil characteristics, fostering a tradition of vine cultivation and winemaking spanning 3000 years.
The exceptional grapes harvested from Muses Valley serve as the foundation for crafting the distinctive, terroir-driven wines of Ascre.
Pausanias, an Ancient Greek writer, once observed, “Ascre is a land abundant in vineyards and grapes.”
Moreover, Muses Valley stands as the ancestral home of Hesiod, the renowned poet who flourished during the same era as Homer.
